FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Acclaimed Lakota Artist Kevin Pourier to Exhibit at the Heard Museum Indian Fair & Market March 7–8
Phoenix, Arizona — Internationally recognized Oglala Lakota artist Kevin Pourier will be featured as a participating artist at the renowned Heard Museum Indian Fair & Market, taking place March 7–8, at the Heard Museum in Phoenix, Arizona. Visitors can meet Pourier and experience his work in person at Booth B-34 during this celebrated annual event showcasing leading Native American artists from across the country.
Kevin Pourier, a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, is widely known for his innovative and culturally significant artwork created from buffalo horn — a material deeply connected to Lakota heritage and tradition. Working from his studio on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota alongside his wife and artistic collaborator Valerie Pourier, he creates sculptural wearable art, vessels, and contemporary cultural pieces that blend ancestral knowledge with modern artistic expression.
Pourier is one of the few artists in the United States working extensively in incised buffalo horn, transforming the material into elegant works often inlaid with semiprecious stones and symbolic imagery inspired by Lakota lifeways and storytelling traditions. His award-winning work is highly sought after by collectors and has been included in major museum collections, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum and other prominent institutions nationwide.
The Heard Museum Indian Fair & Market is recognized as one of the premier Native American art events in the world, bringing together exceptional artists, collectors, and art enthusiasts for a weekend celebrating Indigenous creativity, culture, and craftsmanship.
Attendees are encouraged to visit Booth B-34 to meet Kevin Pourier, learn about the cultural significance behind his work, and view a selection of his distinctive buffalo horn creations.
